Book Review: Horns by Joe Hill

Dear reader I just finished reading “Horns” by Joe Hill. I decided to pick up the book when it was on sale in the Nook store on my tablet because the guy who plays “Harry Potter” is going to be playing the main character in the movie based on this book and because the synopsis of the book seemed interesting. My personal review of the book is as follows:

I want to start off by saying that this book is a whole lot darker than what I normally read (I didn’t look up info about it before I bought it) however at least for the majority of the book the story is told in a way that doesn’t make it seem as dark as it actually is, the last 100 or so pages were really hard for me to finish, to the point where I’m pretty much sure that I won’t be able to watch the movie whenever it’s released because of the dark and gory scenes. Warning spoiler contained in the next section.

I did like both Ig and Merrin as characters and I didn’t guess the plot twists involving her (my guess as to why she breaks up with Ig was totally off). I also liked the character development between Ig and his brother. Some of the stuff regarding the “Devil’s” point of view was interesting, it’s also kind of cool how Ig/ “the devil” get a happy semisweet happy ending

I think that a lot of why I didn’t like the book personally is/was because of the gore. If you love  horror movies and gore then you’ll more than likely enjoy the book.  Overall I personally rate this book a 5/10. Happy reading dear reader ?.  Please share this review if you like it, doing so really helps me to get more book reviews ♡
