Dear reader I am still a little bit shocked by the fact that he died so fast. I didn’t really like his political views however I hope that he Rests In Peace. I think that this is the first time in my life time that a supreme Court justice has died in office.
I am interested in seeing who the replacement will be.
In all fairness, as the man indicated in the video, you are *always* potentially voting for Supreme Court justices in a Presidential election (but also in a Senatorial election), but is more immediate and tangible now. That the Senators are even THINKING about blocking an appointee is the ugliest face of politics, in my opinion, and horribly disrespectful to Justice Scalia.I get that a Liberal replacement would swing the ideological balance of the court, but I thought the idea was to get the most center-leaning candidates!? Besides, there are still THREE justices older than 75 (Ginsburg is 82!) and two of them are liberals! So it could swing right back the other direction a year from now. Chill the heck out, Senate, and do your job!
Agreed and thanks for the comment 😊.
