Note to reader: The following post is ONLY about me venting/talking about my own personal situation and feelings about it I am ONLY speaking for my own personal experience and never for anyone else with a disability. 

Dear reader If you have been around for awhile you already know my divorce/insurance situation  (Check out the “Ending” tab of my blog if you’re curious about it you’ll find everything about it there) I just got off the phone with a person from the main company that makes the customer seat cushion that I am currently using whenever I am in my wheelchair and apparently the company doesn’t keep the custom patterns for more than 3 years I got mine in 2010 so I will have to get fitted for another cushion at some point soon. 

However I don’t have the same level of insurance coverage this time as I did then because I don’t have tri-care(military insurance) because I am not married to my ex husband any more(the court date for the judge to sign off on the paperwork is the 18th of this month) so I will have to rely on California state health care which in my personal experience has been horrible in terms of being approved for high quality medical devices(which a wheelchair and custom made cushions for use in wheelchairs are considered to be).

A lot of companies that offer/make these products force you to buy them from dealers which in turn hike up the prices of said products to the point that most people who really need them will never get to use them especially since state and government medical insurance try to buy the cheapest possible options. 

It feels like going from a Ferrari back to a beat up used car except that it’s something that I use to go outside and live my life. 

I know that a lot of people have it way worse than I do dear reader but it doesn’t make this any easier to deal with.
