Book Review: Scythe (Arc of a Scythe #1)

Dear reader I just finished reading “Scythe” book #1 in the “Arc of a Scythe” series by Neal Shusterman. I picked up a hardcover copy of the book from (I paid for it myself) because it seemed interesting and I like pretty much everything “Grim Reaper” related. My personal review of the book is as follows:

I liked the witty one liners and back and forth between characters, I found the journal entries of the sythes to be very compelling, in my personal opinion they added a lot of depth to the story as a whole. I know that I probably should have seen the plot twist at page 154 coming but it caught me by surprise. Scenes like “Pool boy” made me think about how I saw morality/shades of gray.

I personally felt like the plot twist that happens around page 172-174 made it almost seem like two books in one but still set in the same word. I really enjoyed that after this point the reader gets to see the shades of gray in the “bad guys” character(s).

I didn’t see the plot twists that happen around the last half of the book coming at all, For me personally I felt like they added a few more layers of depth to a few of the characters/the storyline as a whole. I felt more of connection with Citra as well as urgency of having to know what would happen next.

The the very last part of the book was awesome and kept me at the edge of my seat(so to speak) all the way until the end of the final page.  For me personally I feel like this is the best book I’ve read so far this year (out of 43) it’s definitely a 10 out 10. Happy reading dear reader ?.  Please like and share this review if you like it doing so helps me to get approved by Netgally and other places for future books ♡.
