Book Review: The Diviners (Diviners #1)

Dear reader I just finished reading “The Diviners” book number one in the “Diviners” series by Libba Bray. I was given a soft-cover copy of the book by my uncle Timmy, I also read this book as part of the “Tome Topple” Read-A-Thon (Check out @tome_topple on Twitter for more details on the Read-A-Thon). My personal review of the book is as follows:

For about the first 150 or so pages I personally wasn’t that interested in the storyline because I personally felt like there were a lot of(for lack of a better way of phrasing it) “info dumps” in that I as the reader knew that was explaining what was going to be happening and I was waiting for the character to catch up with/figure out what I knew; I also wasn’t a big fan of “Evie” at first as the storyline went on I became ambivalent towards her.

The one liners/witty banter started to pull me into the storyline however to be completely honest this type of horror story isn’t something that I normally read/enjoy.

I really personally didn’t like the last half of the book(I can’t really explain why without giving away plot points that might give away stuff about the main “bad guy”).

Overall I personally rate this book a 4 out 10 (because of how much I liked some of the characters). Happy reading dear reader ? please like and share this review if you like it doing so helps me to get approved by Netgally and other places for future books ♡.
