Book Review: The Rook (Checquey Files #1)

Dear reader I just finished reading “The Rook” the first book in the “Checquy Files” series by Daniel O’Malley. My uncle Timmy gave me a soft-cover copy of the book, my personal review of the book is as follows:

If you enjoy Spies, CIA like networks, Magic, and urban fantasy then you’ll more than likely enjoy the this book(I can’t really explain more about what the book is about about without giving away plot points that would probably give away the whole storyline). I really enjoyed the main character and her character growth through out the storyline. The story made me think about my life and what makes me who I am.

The storyline kind of lost/confused me from around page 300 (in my soft-cover edition) to page 340. It picked up again for about another 100 or so pages then lost me around the last 30-40 pages of the book. A lot of the plot mechanics around the “bad guys” confused me. It had a lot of the “bad guys” explaing how they did everything/their motivations.

I will be downloading the next book in the Nook store on my tablet after I’ve finished posting this review because I want to see what happens next in the story arc. Overall I personally rate this book a 5 and half out of 10. Happy reading dear ?.  Please like and share this review if you like it doing so helps me to get approved by publishers and authors for future books as well as helping others to find my reviews ♡.
