Book Review: The Operator: Kim Harrison

Dear reader I just finished reading ” The Operator” book number 2 in the “Peri Reed” Chronicles by Kim Harrison. I picked up a paperback copy of the book when my dad took me to Barnes and Noble a few weekends ago because I really like Kim Harrison as a author(Full disclosure I met her in person at a book signing in San Diego in ’08) and her “Hollows” series is one of my all time favorites so I really want to see if I would like the 2nd book in series more than I liked the first one (My review of the first book in the series if you want to check it out) my personal review of the book is as follows:

The storyline flows a lot easier in my personal opinion than it does in the first book. I also enjoyed Peri a lot more because I didn’t have to deal with her forgetting things and having to remember them and catch up to what I know as a reader. Peri’s action sequences gave me the same feelings as “Rachel’s” and “Ivy’s” in the “Hollows”.

I did have a few issues with continuity here and there, things around chapter 16 to 18(in my paperback edition) confused me and I also didn’t like how in my personal opinion the framework of the main plotline pushed “Peri” towards choices/situations that might become repeative depending on how far the series goes (I’m sorry if I’m not explaining that well I don’t want to give away the whole storyline of the book).

I got lost again plot wise until around the last few chapters. I really do think that this concept as a whole world make an awesome movie. I do feel like the ending fit even though I felt like a few plot points wrapped up a bit too nicely.

Overall I personally rate this book a 6 and a half out of 10(The last few chapters are what pushed me up a few points in my rating). Happy reading dear reader ?.  Please like and share this review if you like it doing so helps me to get considered by publishers and authors for future books and helps others to find my reviews ❤.
