Book Review: Hunter: Mercedes Lackey

Dear reader I just finished reading “Hunter” book number one in the “Hunter” series by Mercedes Lackey. I picked up this book in soft-cover edition from  (I paid for it myself) because it seemed interesting. My personal review of the book is as follows:

I really enjoyed the strong female main character and the atmospheric world building, even though some of how the mechanics of how the magic works in the world works confused me personally especially when it applied to some plot points which did take me away from the story a bit especially in certain parts of the beginning and ending of the book.

I wish that certain things could have been explained a bit more and given more depth, it felt to me personally as if the author was going to into the plotline then half way through suddenly remembered that an action sequence was supposed to happening so she switched to that sequence then tried to come back to where it left off which for me personally took away from the impact and urgency of the of that specific plot point; I personally think that a good example of this is the romantic storyline/elements.

Having said that I think that this series would make an amazing movie especially using CGI effects to help bring the world and the characters to life and help to visually illustrate some plot points.

I think that if you like urban dystopian fantasy worlds with dragons and other magical creatures then you’ll more than likely enjoy the this book. I am interested in continuing on with the series in the future. Overall I personally rate this book a 6 and a half out of 10. Happy reading dear reader 😊. Please like and share this review if you like it doing so helps me to get approved by publishers and authors for future books and helps others to find my reviews 💖.
