Dear reader I just finished reading “Otherworld” book number one in the “Last Reality” series by Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller. I picked up this book in the Nook store on my tablet because it seemed interesting. My personal review of the book is as follows:
I really liked the characters and the video game setting of the storyline. The main character pulled me in I also really like how he never took himself too seriously, the pop culture references to him being “the one” were really funny.
In my personal opinion there is a lot of “that’s convenient” plot points however I understand them from a story telling point of view. I can’t wait to see how the characters develop further on into the series.
As for the technology elements of story as a person who is physically disabled(from birth due to Cerebral Palsy and can’t walk at all and use a wheelchair to get around) I do think that it would be interesting to see how virtual reality could help people like me(which is a point that was partially discussed at a point towards the end of book) but with a lot more ethical and physical safe guards in place. I do feel like this series would make an amazing movie series.
Overall I personally rate this book a 7 and half out of 10. Happy reading dear reader 😊. Please like and share this review if you like it doing so helps me to get approved by publishers and authors for future books 💜.
