Book Review: Scourged: Kevin Hearne.

Dear reader I just finished “Scourged” book #9 in the “Iron Druid Chronicles” by Kevin Hearne. I picked up this book in hardcover edition from Barnes and Noble when I went with my dad as part of my birthday present. My personal review of the book is as follows:

I have read all of books in the series prior to reading this one however I still really enjoyed the section at the beginning that gives you a summary of the main points of all of prior books as well as how everything got to where things start at the beginning of the book.

I personally don’t normally like books that switch between characters however this book does it very well. I really enjoyed all of the depth of the growth of all of the characters especially “Owen” finding his joy for life again thanks to “Slomo”(such a cute character in more ways than one).

I personally found the commentary on current events to be funny at times (I definitely wouldn’t recommend this book if you’re a fan of Trump) although for me personally I wanted to get back into the story so to speak and forget about real life for a bit.

I personally didn’t really get the point of the big fight near the end of book especially the outcome for “Atticus”, I’m not talking about the plot point about “Loki” I understood that.

I understood the majority of why the romance stuff had to happen as it did for “Atticus” however even though I personally understood the feelings on both sides I just wonder what will happen since it’s the end of the series(I.E. if they get back together again eventually or if they end up with other people).

I do hope that the apprentices/Owen get their own novella or spin-off. Overall I personally feel that it was a good ending to the series however for me personally I feel like it should have had something more to it, in my personal opinion it felt like the author was telling “Atticus” to go rest so to speak; I personally feel like both he and I as the reader deserve more especially after spending 9 years with him on his journey and (I’m paraphrasing here) telling him to “put his sword down and he”ll find happiness” just feels like something you’d get in a fortune cookie.

I personally rate this book a 4 out of 10. Happy reading dear reader 😊. Please like and share this review if you enjoyed it doing so helps me to get approved by publishers and authors for future books and helps others to find my reviews 💜.
