Book Review: Aerie: Maria Dahvana Headley

Dear reader I just finished reading “Aerie” book number two in the “Magonia” doulogy by Maria Dahvana Headley. I picked up this book in the Nook store on my tablet because I had to know how everything ends. My personal review of the book is as follows:

I definitely enjoyed the romance better in the first book than in this one, how much can a guy (in my personal opinion) epic fail in his efforts to “protect” his girlfriend? I do think that the book does a pretty good job in showing the reader the main character’s struggle with trying to find herself aside from the expectations of others and her history.

I do personally wish that certain character’s back stories would’ve been expanded upon more so that we could’ve cared more about them and their final moments. The storyline really let me down in terms of caring about the(for lack of a better way of phrasing it) “side characters” and pretty much everything else that’s delt with after the main character realizes stuff/accepts herself/her romance/her boyfriend’s issues; It felt to me personally like the story was like “oops sorry we aren’t over yet we still have to deal with/end things over here” and then the camera pans over to them but everything is so rushed that there wasn’t enough time for any emotional attachments to build (at least for me personally) that I didn’t really understand or care once it happened. Overall I personally rate this book a 5 out of 10. Happy reading dear reader 😊. Please like and share this review if you enjoyed it doing so helps me to get approved by publishers and authors for future books and helps others to find my reviews 💜.
