Dear reader I just finished reading “Paris” by Edward Rutherford. I picked up this book when I went to my local Barnes and Noble with my dad because it seemed interesting. My personal review of the book is as follows:
To me personally the storyline as a whole felt as if I was reading a “soap opera” that followed the same group of people. Seeing Paris change over time was very interesting especially from the building of the Eiffel tower onward(especially as someone who’s never gone outside of the United States).
As for the characters I was very interested in them at first then as certain time jumps happened and and other characters and side plots came into play the storyline lost me however I kept reading because certain vignettes(for lack of a better way of phrasing without giving away spoilers) would happen with different characters would get me interested again.
I do feel like towards the end the book seemed be dragging on, I feel like if it was split up into a duolgy then I woud’ve like it a bit more.
Seeing some of the political issues happening within the later half of book was interesting to me personally since I could see some similarities to present day events. Overall I personally rate this book a 7 and half out of 10. Happy reading dear reader 😊.
