Dear reader I just finished reading “Sea Witch” book number one in the “Sea Witch” series by Sarah Henning. I picked up this book in hardcover edition from Barnes and Noble when I went to my local store because I wanted to see if/how it would be different from Disney’s take on the story. My personal review of the book is as follows:
For me personally I was confused by both the beginning of the story as well as the time jumps that explained the backstory of one of the characters until around page 200 when things came together in a way that I understood. I didn’t personally like the romance plot twist for the main character towards the end I wish that could’ve stayed best friends(friendship love is a very special form of love in my personal opinion).
I also personally feel like the twist caused the story arc of one of the characters to be pretty much pointless and just there for the drama and to throw readers off of what was really going on until the author was ready to reveal what was really going on in terms of who was really in love with whom.
Having said that I was pulled into the story again for the last few chapters and I felt for the main character a lot. I hope that she’ll find her own happiness at some point. I do feel that if you’re a fan of “The Little Mermaid” and want a YA take on it you should definitely check out the synopsis and see if you would like it. Overall I personally rate this book a 5 out of 10.(Mostly because of how much I liked the last few chapters). Happy reading dear reader. Please like and share this review if you enjoyed it doing so helps me to get approved by publishers and authors for future books and helps others to find my reviews 😊.
