Book Review: The Orphan of Florence: Jeanne Kalogridis

Dear reader I couldn’t sleep so I finished reading “The Orphan of Florence” by Jeanne Kalogridis. I picked up this book in soft-cover edition when I went to my local Barnes and Noble store with my dad because it seemed interesting. My personal review of the book is as follows:

I really enjoyed the strong female main character, the(in my personal opinion) atmospheric writing style that made me feel like I was in the middle of the action right along side the characters, and the storyline as a whole.

I did personally feel like the ending of the felt a little bit rushed and convenient for my personal tastes(even though I am personally glad to see the characters get a happy ending), I also feel like some plot points were rushed over.

Overall I personally rate this book a 8 and a half out of 10. I definitely recommend reading it if you enjoy storylines set in Rome and have a soft-spot in your heart for orphans. Also if you read and enjoyed “Poison” by Sara Poole(one of my favorite books) then I really think that you’ll really enjoy this book because it gave me a lot of the same feelings. Happy reading dear reader 😊. Please like and share this review if you enjoyed it doing so helps me to get approved for future books and helps others to find my reviews 💜.

  1. When you’re tossing and turning in bed and can’t fall asleep- I find it so silly that people continue to try sleeping! They should do more like you and finish up a book!

With me, 1 of 2 things will happen: either the book will be boring and I’ll find myself drifting..off..to sleep…
OR it will be AMAZING and then I can’t sleep because I haaave to know what happens next!

    1. My Cerebral Palsy makes it harder for me to fall asleep so a lot of times I have to wait for my body to tire itself out. Sometimes I can only focus for so long so I’ll finish the book & review then watch some YouTube videos. Thanks for the comment 💜.

      1. My full time job (not the book blogging) is a physical therapist so I work with several people with CP. So the falling asleep difficulty makes total sense to me. Books and Youtube can be a big help!

Tell me what you think.
