Dear reader I just finished reading “The Last Voyage of Poe Blythe” by Ally Condie. I picked up this book in hardcover edition when I went to the L.A Times Festival Of Books event(2019) and stopped by the Mysterious Galaxy booth(I paid for it myself) because it seemed interesting and I like old west/Gold mining storylines. My personal review of the book is as follows:

I really wish that “Poe” and the other characters could’ve been set within a different world wherein more info could’ve been given to explain not only her backstory(as well as the others) but the world it’s self and why it was the way it was beyond the fact that there was an apocalyptic event.

This book felt like it was the end of a doulogy and not a stand alone novel. Too much about what was going on wasn’t told or left hanging without an explanation. Also it felt like the storyline left on a cliffhanger so we never got closure on the story except for the main character saying she was moving on.

The storyline also in my personal opinion gave me very little of why I originally wanted to read the book, I saw glimpses of the things that I like/wanted to read it for but (in my personal opinion) nothing that actually paid off for me as a reader. It wasn’t a bad concept as an idea, I personally think that it was poorly executed.

If you’re looking for a story centering around a main character getting revenge then this book might be for you(the revenge storyline is the only aspect in my personal opinion that we as readers get a full story arc out of in the book).
