Dear reader I couldn’t sleep so I finished reading “Daughter of Smoke and Bone” book number one in the “Daughter of Smoke and Bone” trilogy by Laini Taylor. I picked up this book in paperback from Amazon(I paid for it myself) because I have heard a lot about it and because I’ve read “Strange the Dreamer” by the same author and I wanted to see if I would like this book/series better. My personal review of the book is as follows:

I personally feel like the writing style and atmospheric world building of the book was what I personally enjoyed best from the book. I personally felt like the storyline was interesting(as a whole especially in the beginning), the characters made me care about them and I was rooting for the love story angle that was until the last half of the book at which point

(**spoilers ahead so read at your own risk if you haven’t already finished reading the book**)

The main character remembers her past/who/what she is/was and who the love interest is to her; I was understanding what was going on and enjoying the story until that point and afterwards the storyline lost me to the point where I don’t even know if/when I want to continue with the series yet(I might pick it up the next book in the series if I am still curious about the main character in a few months from now).

Overall I personally rate this book a 5 out of 10 because of how much I liked the beginning and middle of the book.
