Dear reader I couldn’t sleep so I finished reading “Love and Luck” the companion novel(each can be read as a stand alone novel) to “Love and Gelato” by Jenna Evans Welch. I picked up this book in soft-cover edition from my local Barnes and Noble because I enjoyed reading “Love and Gelato” by the same author and I wanted to see how this book would be. My personal review of the book is as follows:
It took me the majority of the book to really get into the story because I was annoyed by how many times the main character was reminded that she had to tell her mom/parents a secret about something that happened to her before the road trip starts. I was also personally annoyed because I really wanted to see the main character and her best friend get to spend time together since I read about them in the first book(I guess companion novel) to this book(side note that they do get a few scenes together which I did find moving but still I was let down).
Once I stopped worrying about those two things I started to get pulled into the story and enjoy it more. I do feel like it at times wrapped up too sweet and nicely to be realistic however if you are looking for a sweet contemporary especially one with a brother and sister who become closer I recommend you check out this book.
Overall I personally rate this book a 4 and half out of 10. The majority of my issues with this book come from the fact that I read “Love and Gelato” beforehand, I think that if you read them as their own respective stories you probably won’t have as many issues with this book as I did. Happy reading dear reader ☺. Please like and share this review if you enjoyed it doing so helps me to get approved by publishers and authors for future books and helps others to find my reviews 💜.
