Book Review: The Scarlet Contessa: Jeanne Kalogridis

Dear reader I couldn’t sleep so I finished reading “The Scarlett Contessa” by Jeanne Kalogridis. I picked up this book in soft-cover edition from Amazon(I paid for it myself) because I am a fan of historical fiction set within Italy and I have also read other books by the author and enjoyed them so I thought I’d give it a try. My personal review of the book is as follows:

I personally found the writing style to be especially difficult to follow(I had to re-read paragraphs multiple times(especially at the beginning of the book) to understand what was going on.

I personally wasn’t really enjoyed the storyline until around the point where Borgia shows up in the story arc(I have read a few books about him/his family and I find them interesting).

I personally found the latter part of the book to the most compelling. I enjoyed the bond the two main characters found at the end. Overall I personally rate this book a 4 and half out of 10. I think that the story would make a better HBO mini series than a book especially since they would be able to use CGI effects to help bring the mystical elements of the book to life and explain them better that way. Happy reading dear reader ☺. Please like and share this review if you like it doing so helps me to get future books and helps others to find my reviews 💜.
