Dear reader I couldn’t sleep so I finished reading “The Living” book #3 in the “Warm Bodies” series by Isaac Marion. I picked up this book in the Nook store on my tablet because I had to know how everything ends. My personal review of the book is as follows:
I want to start this review off by saying that I personally love the first and second books in the series(the first book is my personal favorite of the two), I had high hopes for this book; I still enjoyed the characters and the basic setup and overall storyline arc of the book as well as the overall storyline arc of the series as a whole and the (in my personal opinion) message of hope/perseverance of the human spirit as a whole throughout the arc of humanity that(in my personal opinion) the series as a whole was trying to highlight as a moral for the series as a whole.
Where this book specifically lost me was the addition of the (and I know that I am probably phrasing it wrong however I want to say this in a way that hopefully will avoid spoilers as it’s a bigger and bigger plotline the closer you get to the end of the book) metaphysical/Law of Attraction(the “We” aspects reminded me personally of “Abraham” from “Abraham-Hicks” Google/YouTube search it and you should be able to see where I’m getting the comparison from) which personally bothered me because there(in my personal opinion) can be a (for lack of a better way of phrasing it/trying to avoid spoilers) darker side to that way of thinking/beliefs(especially if you like me are born with a disability) the author doesn’t go as far into the belief(where in my personal opinion you could start to see the dark side that I’m talking about) he just stays in the “what ifs” of the basics of it and gets (in my personal opinion) very heavy handed with it towards the end.
If you’re interested in/a fan of the first 2 books and don’t think that the metaphysical aspects I mentioned will bother you or you can just focus on the zombie/characters instead I recommend it. Overall I personally rate this book a 3 out of 10 because of how much I love the characters. Happy reading dear reader 😊.
