Dear reader I just finished reading “The Midnight Sea” book number one in the “Fourth Element” series by Kat Ross. I picked up this book in the Nook store on my tablet because it seemed interesting and it was in the free section of the Nook store. My personal review of the book is as follows:
I really enjoyed the strong, complex, and unique(in my personal opinion) characters and the mythology of the world(even if I personally didn’t really fully understand the mechanics of how the magic works in the world especially from about the middle of the book onwards).
The storyline it’s self felt very fresh and interesting to me. The motivations behind certain “bad guys”(trying to phrase things in a way that avoids spoilers) towards the end of book kind of lost me especially since up until I looked up the book on Goodreads I thought it was a stand alone novel and not a start to a series and I was looking for how certain plot points would be tied up.
Now that I know that it’s a series I will definitely be reading the next book soon.
Overall I personally rate this book a 8 and a half out of 10. I definitely recommend checking it out if you’re a fan of fantasy stories with bonded characters(I.E. humans bound to magical beings, I don’t want to be more specific and accidentally spoil important plot points). Happy reading dear reader please like and share this review if enjoyed it doing so helps me to get future books and helps others to find my reviews 💜.
