Book Review: Otherlife: Jason Segel: Kirsten Miller

Dear reader I just finished reading “Otherlife” book #3 in “Last Reality” trilogy by Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller. I picked up this book in hardcover edition from Barnes and Noble because I had to know how everything ends. My personal review:

I want to start this review off by saying that I personally love the characters and the main storyline/world building of the series as a whole and enjoy the(in my personal opinion) relationship(both in terms of romance between the couples as well as the family/friendship) growth both throughout the overall arc of the series as a whole and this book specifically as(in my personal opinion) the majority of the growth happens within this book.

Having said all of that I was let down with how the core problems/issues that the characters have spent the arc of the trilogy as a whole trying to fix were ultimately dealt with/explained.

It just felt way too convenient(for my personal tastes) and at times(in my personal opinion) like certain “rules” for how the technology within the framework of the world of the series works were changed or didn’t really matter in the end to help the characters(especially the main character) survive which for me personally(especially when I think back to the stakes in the earlier books in the series and the emotional impacts of them with the newly revelations regarding the(for lack of a better way of phrasing it) mechanics of how the technology works) cheapens my personal overall experience/enjoyment of the overall arc of the series as a whole because I personally feel like the stakes/risks weren’t really as high as I originally thought they were, I hope that makes sense to you dear reader I’m also trying really hard to explain my feelings in a way that avoids spoilers.

Overall because of how much I liked the characters and the world building and the themes about how gaming technology could be missed used in the future I’m personally rating this book a 5 out of 10. Happy reading dear reader 😊. Please like and share this review if you enjoyed it doing so helps me to get approved for future books and helps others to find my reviews 💜.
