Dear reader I couldn’t sleep so I finished reading “The Bookshop of Yesterdays” by Amy Meyerson. I picked up this book in the Nook store on my tablet because it seemed interesting and it was on sale for $1.99. My personal review of the book is as follows:
I’m almost always(depending upon the synopsis) a sucker for books set within/around/about book stores so this book grabbed my attention right away and the synopsis especially the scavenger hunt aspect got me curious and pulled me into the storyline.
For the majority of the first half of book I personally was curious about what was going on and trying to figure out the clues with the main character however as time went on and (in my personal opinion) the instances of the main character being unnecessarily cruel to the people around her (Yes, I know that she was grieving however there were times in my personal opinion that the main character seemed to acknowledge that she was being mean and then in the next few sentences do it anyway which in my person opinion makes it more of her character as a person more than just a symptom of her grief.) Brought down my personal enjoyment of the book however I kept reading because I thought she was going to realize it and change(which in my personal opinion) we do see a bit of at the end (towards her romantic interest) however it still wasn’t enough for me personally to change my mind about her.
I also kept reading because I wanted to see if I was right about my guess about the main plot twist which I was. Overall I personally rate this book a 3 and half out 10 because I did like some aspects of the book like the book store scenes.
