Dear reader I couldn’t sleep so I finished reading “This Vicious Cure” book #3 in the ” This Mortal Coil” trilogy by Emily Suvada. I picked up this book in hardcover edition from my local Barnes and Noble when I went after Christmas to spend one of the gift cards my dad gave me for Christmas.
I really enjoyed the first two books in the trilogy(especially the 2nd one) and I had to know how everything ends, my personal review of the book is as follows:
I feel like I have to start this review off by saying that I personally feel like the virus/gene/overall scientific elements of the series as a whole but especially this book in spefic went way over my head as a reader and at times took me out of the story as I was trying to figure out what was going on with it or at least get a basic understanding of it so that I wasn’t so confused as well as trying to keep up with the rest of the connected story elements as well as character interactions that were happening at the same time.
I feel like if you’re interested in these subjects and can follow along with them you’re probably going to enjoy this book a lot more than I did especially if you’ve made guesses about the virus throughout the series and want to see if you’re right.
I also feel like I have to say at the start of this review that I know that my review is probably going to disappoint any of you who liked my reviews for the second book in the series as I can see from my WordPress analytics that a lot of you guys have viewed it (thanks so much that means a lot to me 😊) and if you have read it then you’ll know already how hyped I was to read this however I promised myself that my reviews would always be my personal honest opinions/thoughts/feelings about the book no matter what so that’s what I did in this review as well, I apologize if it disappoints you dear reader.
I feel like so much info was(in my personal opinion) crammed into what felt like a bunch of short paragraphs that I couldn’t full enjoy/understand everything in terms of how it connected to everything else going on.
I finally fixed the issue for myself by deciding on just following the rest of the characters story lines as I was already more than half way way through the book by this point.
I do personally wish that we as readers could have gotten more backstory on two other characters as they were a really big plot point/twist for the virus situation from a storyline prospective(trying to stay as vague as possible to hopefully avoid spoilers) and I personally feel like the twist regarding them would’ve meant more to me as reader if I could’ve known more about them(especially when it comes to how it fits into the backstory of the virus).
I am overall happy for the most part with the ending of the trilogy in terms of where the characters end up however it still felt like it was missing something to make it feel satisfying for me personally.
Overall because of how much I liked the trilogy as a whole I am personally rating this book a 5 out of 10. Happy reading dear reader 😊.
