Dear reader I couldn’t sleep so I finished reading “Honor Bound” book number two in “The Honors” trilogy by Rachel Caine and Ann Aguirre. I picked up this book in hardcover edition from my local Barnes and Noble because the first book in the series was my favorite book of last year(2018) so I had to know what happens next with Zara and the rest of the crew. My personal review of the book is follows:

So many times the storyline would break my heart and put it back together again(about 4 separate times that I can remember).

I loved the depth and complexity of all of the characters as well as how much of the world of the series as a whole that we as readers get to see more of and explore. I definitely highly recommended reading this series if you are a fan of games like “Mass Effect”.

I do feel like some plot points that might have been better explored or expanded upon were wrapped up within the space of this specific book so that “Zara” can have a “Character triumphs and over comes their past to find family/a better life elsewhere” moment within book 3 since I am pretty sure that this series is a trilogy, I am NOT saying that she doesn’t deserve to have it I am ONLY saying that I can see it coming.

I personally also disagree with the way that humans are portrayed overall within the framework of the series and especially within this book itself, I know that human beings as a whole have a messed up history however I was personally annoyed by having to have the “Humanity is bad/evil as a whole” beat over my head even though it was addressed at the end with a (and I am paraphrasing here) “Yes, we know that humans are evil but you still have some good stuff in you as well and we still love you anyway”. Which to me personally felt annoying. Overall I personally rate this book an 8 and a half out of 10. Happy reading dear reader ❤.
